Have you ever been thoroughly entertained in just ten minutes while also learning something new? No? Then head over to the SCIENCE SLAM at Heimathafen Neukölln. On October 8, a fresh batch of knowledge—straight from the labs—awaits you on the big stage. Accompanied by our host Simon Hauser, five scientists will present their latest research findings.
What is a SCIENCE SLAM? We like to call it the rock concert of science, because our slammers perform with so much passion and fun that their knowledge puts more than a few electric guitars to shame. In a battle, up-and-coming scientists from all over Germany compete against each other with ten-minute presentations on their research. In doing so, they must break down their often complex and challenging research topics in such a way that even non-specialists can understand, for example, what electrolysis is all about or what one can do with texts by Derrida or de Beauvoir. The whole thing is spiced up here and there with a dash of humor. With this skillful blend, the Science Slam is a unique format of science communication that you shouldn’t miss. The audience decides who delivered the best presentation by their applause.
